CURRENT BUSINESS
Although most construction sites are closed, we are still making deliveries to essential Environment Agency works being undertaken by J T Mackley and Van Oord UK. We always observe all the social distancing guidelines and have written confirmation from the contractor that we are making an essential journey.
HS2 GIVEN ‘NOTICE TO PROCEED’
When the Lock Down is eased, we always expected construction to be one of the first industries to be back at work. A belief that was given a big boost this week with the announcement that the Government has issued the formal ‘Notice to Proceed’ to allow the multi-billion pound HS2 project to begin.
Mark Thurston, CEO of HS2 Ltd, said: “In these difficult times, today’s announcement represents both an immediate boost to the construction industry – and the many millions of UK jobs that the industry supports – and an important investment in Britain’s future. While the country’s focus is rightly on defeating COVID-19, this ensures that our contractors and their supply chains have the confidence that they can commit to building HS2, generating thousands of skilled jobs across the country as we recover from the pandemic.”
We are delighted to be working on multiple stages of this project. Through our distributors A Plant (Sunbelt Rentals) and Bunzl Greenham, we shall be providing products to these major industry players all contractors on HS2: CSjv (Costain, Skanska), SCSjv (Costain, Skanska, Strabag), Alignjv (Bouygues, Sir Robert McApline, Voker Fitzpatrick) and BBVjv (Balfour Beatty, Vinci).
