Our new hybrid marine booms are being used to protect the environment on the Colne Vally river and lakes in Hertfordshire for the HS2 project.
1.8 kilometers of booms have been installed to date. An Align JV Environmental Advisor said: "...we are confident we have the very best environment protection solution in place."
Booms were used to protect the river at the Dormay Street site where the Frogmore tunnel was constructed to connect the combined sewer overflows at Dormay Street and King George’s Park to the main tunnel.
A Section Engineer said:
'I can confirm the booms worked well and we're very happy with their performance at Dormay Street.'
While piling is underway, our hybrid marine booms with integral silt curtains protect the River Colne.
The Colne Valley Viaduct will be the UK's longest railway bridge. An expert team of ground engineers are sinking almost 300 piles.
The first iteration of our booms were deployed at Taplow Lock by Team Van Oord Limited - a WEM 6 framework contractor - while dredging was being undertaken.
Released as an Environment Agency Innovation, a spokesperson said:
'Until now, the only booms available just paid lip service to protecting the environment. The Pro Earth booms really do the job properly.'
We run a continuous programme of innovation, research and development. The design of our Marine Boom Hybrid evolves as we refine materials and manufacture. Contact us for more information.
